Dear Ms. Yee:

I was pleased to learn that the Seattle Chapter of the JACL was awarded a grant from the Civil Liberties Public Education Fund. I understand that this grant will help fund its project commemorating the contributions to the Pike Place Market of Japanese American farmers.

Your project will be an important addition to the growing body of material on the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, a tragic episode in our nation's history. It will also teach community members a broader lesson regarding civil liberties and serve as a reminder of the injustices suffered when any one group of Americans is discriminated against.

Congratulations on receiving this grant award and thank you for embarking on this important project.

Sincerely,

Patty Murray
